Albion Cultural Exchange

Albion Cultural Exchange

The Albion Cultural Exchange (ACE) is located in the heart of downtown Wakefield at 9 Albion Street. It is a municipally owned building that was originally constructed as a post office in 1910. Today, it supports art and culture, community events, and showcases the work of local artisans. The space is managed by the Recreation Department.

 

 

 

 

Americal Civic Center

Americal Civic Center

Originally an armory, the facility has been transformed into a vibrant multi-purpose community center. In active daily use by many Wakefield non-profit organizations and businesses, the Americal also offers function rentals of two of the Town’s most appealing spaces, the Heritage Room and the Drill Hall.

 

 

 

 

BMX Track

BMX Track at Sullivan Park

Wakefield BMX at Sullivan Park is a community BMX racing track offering family-friendly riding, racing events, and practice sessions for riders of all ages and skill levels. Maintained by volunteers and welcoming riders from across the region, the track hosts regular BMX events and is a great place to enjoy action-packed outdoor cycling.

 

 

 

 

Breakheart Reservation

Breakheart Reservation

With a direct entrance in Wakefield, Breakheart Reservation offers over 600 acres of forest reserve and features two lakes, wooded trails, scenic overlooks, and outdoor recreation for all ages. Activities include hiking, biking, horseback riding, swimming, fishing, cross-country skiing, and educational programs.

 

 

 

 

Galvin Facilities

Galvin Middle School Outdoor Facilities

Home to basketball courts, a skate park, and Mullen and Walton Fields, Galvin Middle School offers a variety of municipal outdoor recreation spaces. When not in use by the school, these facilities are open to the public for sports programs like soccer, lacrosse, and basketball leagues, as well as summer camps and training sessions. All facilities are managed by the Town of Wakefield and the Recreation Department.

Lake Quannapowitt

Located at the north edge of Downtown, Lake Quannapowitt is one of Wakefield’s central attractions. Spanning 250 acres, the Lake and surrounding land offer a variety of amenities, including walking trails, outdoor sports facilities, playgrounds, and open fields. Visitors can enjoy boating, managed by the Boys and Girls Club of Metro North, as well as walking, running, biking, and rolling around the 3-mile loop encircling the lake.
